I’ve been working on a site for a LA track and field club, powered by WordPress of course.
I’ve created a main page template that will allow content in the right and left columns to be edited within the wordpress GUI. The main column will show posts in normal order, short 1 category. The sidebar will show 1 post at time, like a news article or upcoming event list, from the category missing in the main column.
I got the idea after reading up on advanced use of the ‘Loop’ at the WP Codex. Sure does add quite a bit of flexibility to Wordpress, that’s for sure.
With this modification to the main index page, it is possible to add as many ‘Loops’ to a page as needed.

All comments at donburnside.com are moderated by my first rate team of robot warriors, ready to do battle with all the nare-do-wells that stalk the interwebs!
Besides, it's only your first comment (per IP address if you are commenting from work and home) that the robot warriors have to approve. After that it should be clear saling! If not, contact db and I'm sure he'll hook you up.
Finally, for those of you in the know, Markdown is available as it a very small set of HTML tags. If you are scratching your head, don't worry, it's just geek stuff. You can still comment!
